In this short video, Dr. Travis Stork from the Television show, The Doctors, gives a brief overview of Parkinson's Disease, it's symptoms, and it's implications on patients.
There are as many as 1.5 million patients affected by Parkinson's Disease just in the United States, with around 60,000 new diagnoses every year. With these numbers, it is crucial for speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to be educated in order to properly care for their patients.
Educating patients and patient's families of the disease is also important to help keep the patient comfortable and improve thier quality of life.
